Father's Day Gifts

Father's Day Gifts are the rarity that occur on Father's Day. That one special day of the year, during which Dad's can get acknowledgment that is sorely missing during the rest of the year.
Fathers have received notoriously bad gifts over the years.
Like ties.
And soap-on-a-rope.
And cheesy cards that will end up in the bin a week later:
And yet they receive, grin, and give a bear hug that says: "I love soap-on-a-rope. I"ll wear it with my WORLD'S BEST DAD tie."
This year, why don't we do it differently?
Why don't we express what our Dads really mean to us?
Need some ideas? Here are some great Dad quotes.
Father's Day Gifts. "He didn't tell me how to live. He lived, and let me watch him do it."
-- Clarence Buddington Kelland.

I've had a hard life, but my hardships are nothing against the hardships that my father went through in order to get me to where I started.
-- Bartrand Hubbard

A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty. -- Unknown Author.
By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right; he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong. -- Charles Wadsworth.
Father's Day Quote:When a father gives to his son, both laugh.
When a son gives to his father, both cry.
-- Jewish Proverb. | |

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.” -- Jim Valvano
There are lots of great gifts you could bestow upon your father.
- But the best father's day gifts are simple.
- The best father's day gifts are heartfelt.
- The best father's day gifts are memorable.
My wife and I discovered a system recently, that has transformed our many of our personal (and business) relationships. It's called Send Out Cards.
Send Out Cards allows you to send physical greeting cards online, for as little as 31 cents for the card, plus regular postage rates.
Send Out Cards lets you use custom borders, graphical effects, and even whatever personal photographs you may want to use, to drive home your message.
Send Out Cards even has a way of saving your handwriting, so that every card you send is written in your own handwriting! Even though you typed the message on your computer!
We've gone from being the ones who often got cards out late, to the ones who always get them in on time... and have the cards saved on the mantle permanently.
We plan to use this for our father's day gifts for many years to come.
Here's one more great Father's Day quote that I had to share.
Fatherhood
Sherman made the terrible discovery that men make about their fathers sooner or later...
that the man before him was not an aging father but a boy,
a boy much like himself,
a boy who grew up and had a child of his own and,
as best he could, out of a sense of duty and, perhaps love,
adopted a role called 'Being a Father'
so that his child would have something mythical and infinitely important:
a Protector, who would keep a lid on all the chaotic and catastrophic possibilities of life. -- Tom Wolfe, The Bonfire of the Vanities | |
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!
We've all given our Dads bad ties. What's your funniest father's day story?
Don't worry - your Dad won't be reading this. LOL! Do share... perhaps someone else's Dad will be saved this same grief, after their kid reads your entry. :)
